Through the Northern Lights project, the process has commenced of establishing a carbon reception and storage facility at the Energy Park.
At a dedicated area within the Energy Park, the Northern Lights project is establishing a facility for reception of carbon dioxide. The establishment is part of the Norwegian project "Longship" for full scale carbon capture and storage (CCS).
The facility at the Energy Park will be a national reception plant for CO2 that is captured from various types of industry, both locally and from different parts of the country. From this plant, liquified CO2 will be transported in pipelines for injection and permanent storage underneath the seabed.
